    the night of nights
the bookclubofdeath convergence part III occurred 30.5.04 whereby many flakes, herbs, and plain ole haters failed to attend despite claiming allegiance to the bookclub. however, this offered those who showed a less claustrophobic experience in the luxurious surrounds of 106 blyth street, we were actually able to talk and get to know eachother intimately (...?!) and our hosts flowed us fine food and creature comforts like tea. a splendid night was had by all.brett gave us the lowdown on 'marching powder' about a corrupt prison system which operatives effectively as a cocaine factory and has its own cafes, schools etc... elly wassn't too enthused on her book 'smithereens' about a 14 year old temptress who drove a lincoln continental with a gun in the glove compartment., yikes. lil' pete had taken the role of comic relief for the evening and the dodgy wisecracks were flowing like cheap champagne. he also offered his opinions on yet more science fiction short stories...this time by arthur c. clarke, and a comic by al burian which i had read also so we engaged in a charming repartee on the topic. imogen talked about her book "curious dog' something concerned with an autistic boy so this sparked some conversation that was actually very interesting. i lauded a book about deforestation called 'srangely like war'...by derrick jensen. Devastating. have a chat with me about it.
ok then lovecats don't miss out on the next 'chapter' ( ho ho) of the bookclubofdeath saga...its gonna probably be at my house 300 gore st fitzroy. the reading is at yeah it s a bit wordy but don't wig out just stick with it its surprisingly relevant. this article sparked the french student uprising of 68 after all the student union got kicked out for using uni resources to make it.
